NEW FOR 2017 – PRESIDENT’S AWARD – A SPECIAL PRIZE FOR THE PRESIDENT’S FAVOURITE EXHIBIT ON THE DAY
Our president for 2017 is Dafydd Jones, retired Welsh rugby union player. He played in the back row for Wales & for the Llanelli Scarlets in the Magners League. He made 104 appearances for the Scarlets scoring 45 points.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the organisers of the WPCS Performance Awards have agreed to include The Aberaeron Festival into the competition ! The performance awards are run by the WPCS, to encourage and reward versatility of the Welsh breeds. Please look on their website wpcs.uk.com for details if you have not already entered this year. Appearance at the festival, either ridden or driven now carries 40 points !
Points cards will need to be signed by either Julie Taylor or Niki Brewer on the day.
We are all delighted to announce that following a visit by Niki Brewer and myself to the world famous DERWEN STUD, Mr and Mrs Ifor Lloyd have very generously offered overnight stabling for those people who wish to travel from further afield to the festival .
Stabling will however, be limited, so if you are interested, please drop us a PM and we will get back you.
One of the highlights of the Festival is undoubtedly The running of the stallions. Strutting like peacocks, eyes wide, nostrils snorting, tails held high, it truly is a sight to behold!

Free, true and forcible. The knee should be bent and the whole foreleg should be extended straight from the shoulder and as far forward as possible in the trot. Hocks flexed under the body with straight and powerful leverage.
